Here it comes people: Old Man Winter, Jack Frost, Father Winter or whatever you wish to call it is about to bear down on the United States with the full force of a freezing cold glacier. Well, maybe I'm being a bit dramatic with the glacier reference, but it's true that winter will soon be here with snow, sleet and ice. Watch out for falling icicles!
It's time to prepare for the gusts and gales of the darker months. Regardless if you live in the north or south, east or west, winter will bring lower temperatures and colder nights. Imagine chilly winter evenings, when a roaring fire would create the perfect escape. Picture those Christmas or News Years parties, when guests and family members gather to socialize and catch up on the past year. Let's look ahead to December, January and February and try to conceive a few solutions to the problems created by Old Man Winter.
Do you entertain regularly, yet find yourself unable to allow guests outside during the winter because there's no warm space to entertain? A Liquid Propane Fire Pit or Fireplace in an Outdoor Room or a Portable Fire Pit in the backyard or on a patio are both innovative solutions rarely considered. I'll leave fireplaces alone for now and will focus on the two forms of fire pits: built-in liquid propane models and portable models.
Homeowners love the built-in option, but it does carry a premium cost. First, you will have to install the fire pit. Not only will you hire an installation crew, but the typical built-in firepit uses liquid propane, which will require extra care during installation. But the beauty of built-in Fire Pits is found in the finished appearance: they are, hands down, the most beautiful option you have to choose from when creating a warm outdoor experience. Each is completely custom, granting you the ability to match the materials of the fire pit structure to your home, outdoor room, porch or patio. Do you have stucco or stone on your home's exterior? Build a fire pit with a stucco or stone base that matches your home and top it with a stunning granite counter top or colorful tile for the perfect finishing touch. Get creative with the materials! Fill your propane fire pit with Fire Glass, Eco Beads or Fire Beads to match the outdoor room's color scheme, or match the colors to your favorite school or franchise's team colors (see picture). Once installed, it's a simple twist and push of a button to create a warm centerpiece to your outdoor room all guests will love.
Portable Fire Pits are an economic option when compared to liquid propane fire pits, yet don't be fooled by the cost savings. Yes, they typically burn wood or charcoal, so they do require some extra work before a party or wine-sipping session. But you can still create a wonderful space neighbors and visiting in laws will love to gather around to sip adult beverages and chatter about life. Each model carries historic or modern design elements, from antique motifs to ultra-modern designs. You should have no trouble finding the perfect fire pit for your outdoor space. Materials include copper, iron, bronze and much more; one model, the Pagoda Wood Burning Fire Pit, copies ancient Asian architectural design elements for an extraordinary look (see picture).
So prepare yourself, and your outdoor space, for the coming winter months with a fire pit. Whether it's a traditional wood burning fire pit on the patio or a modern liquid propane fire pit in the outdoor room, each will provide another space to escape from the worries of everyday life, or entertain guests with flickering flames and generous warmth... The only person that will not like your new addition is Old Man Winter, Jack Frost, Father Winter or whatever you wish to call it! But who cares what he thinks anyways, right?
