About Family Leisure

Family Leisure began in 1967 as J & J Distributing Company, a vending machine distributor near downtown Cincinnati. In 1969, J & J Distributing Company started selling swimming pools and pool tables and soon became the city's largest pool store. As years passed and additional product lines were added, the company changed its name to reflect its founder, William Watson. Throughout the company's history, Watson's has continually made changes and improvements in its store and product line to meet the ever-changing needs of our customers. One of these recent changes involved changing our name from Watson's to Family Leisure. Family Leisure more clearly represents the products we offer.

Family Leisure is a toy store for adults with pool tables, tanning beds, spas, above ground pools, patio furniture, game tables, gas grills, fireplaces, bars, games, poker tables and more.

Since 1969, Family Leisure has opened 12 stores in Indianapolis, Nashville, Memphis, Kansas City, Dayton, Louisville, St. Louis, Grand Rapids, Little Rock and San Antonio as well as helped affiliated stores open in Flint, Michigan, Rochester, New York and Columbus, Ohio. Family Leisure employs a dedicated and well-trained service team to answer all of your questions and service any product purchased at our store. In fact, Family Leisure handles manufacturer warranties directly to minimize your inconvenience. Family Leisure is committed to offering the best possible price and selection for the customer. We firmly believe in service after the sale - it has allowed us to serve you the customer for more than 30 years.

Family Leisure’s Mission Statement

Our Mission is simple.  We focus our energy on three things; Higher Quality, Lower Prices & Exceptional Service.
Higher Quality - We hold all of our suppliers to high standards.  We work very closely with our suppliers to ensure higher quality.  We are often involved in selecting the raw materials as well as creating prototypes and providing feedback.  We are even involved with the final packaging and presentation of the items that we offer.
Lower Prices – Not to be mistaken for the “cheapest.”  We strive to offer the lowest possible price on the highest quality products within each category.  We achieve this through long standing vendor relationships, our buying power and ability to move volume.
Exceptional Service – Providing exceptional service does not only refer to our in house service departments but rather the entire customer experience.  From the initial greeting as you walk into one of our showrooms, to the unmatched product knowledge of our sales associates to the professional delivery and/or installation of our products.  We do not just say it but we live it.  We believe in the Platinum Rule.  “Treat our customers and suppliers better than how we’d like to be treated.”
By focusing on these three things we believe that we will be the most successful leisure product retailer in the country in stores, and online.
Where we fit in (Bridging the Gap)
We “Bridge the Gap” between the mass merchants and the specialty retailers in our industry.  
Mass merchant - When you shop at a mass merchant you have certain expectations; Lower Prices and In-Stock products.  Consumers are often willing to trade little product knowledge and little or no service after the sale for what they believe to be the lowest price and the fact that they can take it home today.
Specialty Retailer - When you shop at a specialty retailer you have certain expectations as well; Higher Quality and Great Service.  Consumers are often willing to pay Higher Prices as well and wait for their Special Order item(s) to arrive as a trade-off for what they believe to be higher quality while also gaining the peace of mind of great service after the sale.
Family Leisure - We are able to bridge the gap between the mass merchant and the specialty retailer (and it’s a HUGE gap).  Providing Higher Quality products and Great Service while also offering a wide selection of In-Stock products at the Lowest Prices possible allows us to be the country’s leader in the leisure product industry.
