During the summer, we're always on the look out for the best outdoor spot to have a drink and eat some great food. Right now? We just want to find somewhere cozy to enjoy a warming winter meal. We've put in the hard work and tracked down the best places in Little Rock to do just that:
Ciao Baci
If you are in your 20s or 30s, this is THE hip place to see and be seen. Of course, you don't have to be that young or hip to enjoy a cocktail in this cute bar/restaurant, located in a Craftsman-style home in the Hillcrest District. They also serve up some great wine and some great food, too. If you’re a cheap date, go on a Wednesday, and you can enjoy martinis for only $5!
The Mallard Bar in the Peabody Hotel
Does it seem strange for a local to enjoy hanging out in a hotel bar? Not when it's as warm and cozy as The Mallard Bar in the Peabody Hotel. It’s my go-to spot when I want to relax and avoid the usual hub-bub of downtown Little Rock.
This place feels as comfortable as my living room, and much, much nicer and more elegantly decorated. The space is lined with dark wood paneling, many tomes, and of course, antique duck decoys. You'll lounge on red leather sofas, or the plush chenille chairs (my favorite!). The Mallard Room also features a fireplace, which is a big bonus this time of the year. You will find me snuggled up sipping a Manhattan or another old-school cocktail - the bartenders here are especially good at whipping up these concoctions!
Capital Bar & Grill
Another hotel bar that doesn't really feel like a hotel bar is the relatively newly renovated Capital Bar & Grill. The space is comfortable and fronted with large windows, which is great for people watching on cold evenings. The cocktail menu is one of the most impressive I've found in Little Rock. Highlights include classics like the Aviation and Old Fashioned. If you are feeling more adventurous, try a more modern cocktail like the "Rhubarb & Rye," which is made with Sazerac Rye, Sous Vide Rhubarb-Honey-Vanilla Syrup, lemon juice and soda, all served in a julep cup. Yum!
