Mixing it up with OKC Restaurants

I’m typically an adventurous eater, but sometimes I end up at the same restaurants over and over again. Like most people, I enjoy going back to restaurants I enjoy over and over again. The trouble with that, of course, is that you miss some of the new and great restaurants that come to the city. Recently, I went out on a limb and tried a couple of new places to mix up my dining routine.

If you’re up for something new and different, nothing says “adventurous” like Carican Flavors; an opulent combination of American soul food and authentic island cuisine. Located on MLK Blvd in Oklahoma City, Carican offers a bold blend of Cajun and Creole-style seasonings; a splendid combination that you’ll remember for months to come.

For the ultimate experience, just close your eyes and allow the aroma of special island spices to welcome you. It’s a simple, yet warm, ambiance, with a noticeable map of the Caribbean that overlooks the dining room. Among their most popular selections are the goat curry, jerk chicken, and island-style red beans and rice. If you’re in the area for lunch or dinner, Carican Flavors is a good option.

Combine rotisserie chicken, a tender ribeye steak that literally falls from the bone and red-skinned potatoes, and you have the makings of a wonderful dining experience at the Redrock Canyon Grill on Lake Hefner Parkway. I enjoy their impeccable ambiance and the modern, yet relaxing, atmosphere with a wonderful view of Lake Hefner and the lighthouse. The food stands out on its own and if you time it just right, you’ll experience an amazing sunset that nearly takes your breath away. This is a very popular place for a memorable dining experience, so be prepared to wait a bit without a reservation. Once it gets to your table, though, the food won’t disappoint you.

I’ll definitely be going back to both these locations. These restaurants don’t just distract customers with flash and energetic staff, they deliver a memorable experience; one that your palate will undoubtedly remember for months to come.
