The Celeste Massage Chair by Berkline
Well here’s our First Fun Friday Blog Post from Family Leisure! I guess you should have some background information: Every Friday I will travel down to Family Leisure’s showroom and test out a certain product. One week it could be a Two-Person Spa, or maybe it’s a Power Air Hockey Table for your basement game room. What’s the subject for the First Fun Friday Blog Post? It’s the Celeste Massage Chair by Berkline, a great subject considering I spent an hour last night in Family Leisure’s employee gym running on a treadmill and lifting weights. I must admit my experience with Massage Chairs in minimal. Only on "special" occasions have I had a chance to sit in one of these things. And it’s only for a split second, since I’m typically shopping with a significant other that's tugging on my arm, trying to get to the next store. But this time there’s nobody tugging on my arm, so I can sit back and relax with no distractions. Which brings up a good question: is it OK to sleep on the job, if it’s part of the job? That should foreshadow something... Back to my experience with this Berkline chair, which I can sum up in one word: awesome! When you sink into one of these chairs, you feel like you just disappeared into total massage heaven. There’s six massage programs listed on the remote, which looks like a high-tech TV remote with a color screen that outlines your chair position options, intensity and massage types. I decided to pick the “sports recovery” program, since I was recovering from a sore back and legs from the gym the night before. This program starts in your upper back, and slowly rolls down your spine to your lower back. The next thing I noticed were the leg and foot sections, which wrap around your lower body, started to expand around both of my legs and feet, almost gripping them with comfortable air pressure. Then, a rolling action started on my calves, hamstrings and the bottom of my feet. This is a truly pleasing action for anybody who stands all day, or for runners with sore legs, like me. Then, the rolling action turned into chopping motion, and it was repeated on my back and legs. I must admit I almost fell asleep it was so relaxing! But I remembered I was working, so I decided to switch up the program. Hey, maybe one of the programs will keep me awake, right? And I forgot to mention above all of the programs the Celeste by Berkline offers: morning wake up, sports recovery, full-body relaxation, neck/shoulder therapy, lower back relief and lower body therapy. I decided the “full-body relaxation” program looked like the best, so I picked that program. Again: awesome! The pulsating neck massage started immediately while my hamstrings received a rolling action massage. Slow action started in the upper back area and moved down to the lower back, followed by my lower body, legs and feet. That’s when I discovered the remote had more to offer. The front face flipped open to more options, and my head began to swirl. I could manual adjust each program, adding a kneading and tapping action to my back, while picking up the speed and air intensity of my feet and leg massages. I adjusted the remote, and again almost slipped into a massage-induced coma. That’s when my boss interrupted, grabbing me to help move Play Gym Swing Sets in our outdoor showroom. Just after my body recovered with the best massage I've had in years, I was outside tugging, lifting and pulling child swing sets. Go figure.
